If you forgot to disable your Antivirus software then you will receive an error message like the one below. The utility will now format the USB device. Confirm this warning message to erase the device by selecting Yes to continueġ1.
If the USB device has data on it, you will receive this message warning you that it will erase the device. Once you have selected the USB device, select Begin Copying to commence the process.ĩ. Use the refresh icon to refresh the selection if you had not plugged the USB drive in before you started. Verify that your USB drive is showing below. Choose the type of media you wish to burn the ISO file to – in this case we will select USB device below.Ĩ. Select the ISO file that you wish to copy to the USB drive via the browse button and then select Next to continue.ħ. Run it the tool and it will open as per the screen below.Ħ. Install the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool on your machine and you should be left with the icon as belowĥ. Before you start, ensure that you disable your AV software on your desktop machine as from experience this has caused me problems with accessing the USB stick during the copy process (don’t say you were not warned).Ĥ. You will also need to have your SBS 2011 ISO image of courseģ. Firstly you will need the Windows 7 USB / DVD Download tool which you can get from Codeplex site hereĢ. The procedure I’ve documented below will allow you to not only create a bootable SBS 2011 USB stick, but you can use the process with any other bootable ISO to do pretty much the same thing.ġ. Now I’ve done most of my testing in a virtual environment and therefore have not needed to cut the ISO that I have to a DVD until more recently. One of the challenges with SBS 2011 is that it’s quite large – the DVD is 6.6GB in size.
